Importance of Nursery Rhymes
I was trying to busy Nabaa by engaging her in rhymes and stories before sleeping. And you know what… she was asking again and again to repeat the same rhyme she likes. It’s been an hour now and I’m fully exhausted with migraine but I’m satisfied that she enjoyed rhymes with actions.

For me rhymes ( Urdu, Arabic or English) are very important parts for a child’s early years, when I was young my amma used to sing rhymes for me and later that skill brought more love for stories and poetry to me.

In this era, children are busy with gadgets and even their mothers too. I think gadgets cannot replace the fun and life of rhymes by just playing them on tabs, laptops or tv.

Nursery poems, believe it or not, help children grow. Let me explain it to you. To some people, they are “stupid” little rhymes who mean very little.  But in fact, nursery rhymes help a child…

  •   Improve listening skills
  •   Learn new words
  •   Promote their non-verbal communication skills
  •   Learn elementary math skills
  •   Improve memory skills
  •   Understand how words are formed
  •   Enables children to copy actions
  •   Has language, communication, and literacy skills
  •   Aids in the development of social skills
  •   Understand concepts like big and small, slow and fast, top and bottom and more
  •   Learn about the different beats and rhythms that help with awareness
  •   It gives children the opportunity to appreciate the language and become confident learners.
  •   Creates a deep bond between adult and child

All of these are important steps for the future of children in education and learning.
